About MOGA
Over 500+ Outfitters & Guides
Montana is a place where the spirit of adventure and beauty of the great outdoors come alive. For the past 50 years, the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association (MOGA) has been central to this adventure, guiding tens of thousands of visitors through the wonders of Big Sky Country. Since 1974, MOGA has protected and enhanced the Montana outfitting industry, representing more than 1,000 professional outfitters and guides who offer a variety of backcountry experiences, including skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, fishing, and hunting.
MOGA’s membership is diverse, with many operations owned and operated by families for generations. These businesses are pillars of their communities, significantly contributing to Montana’s economy, especially in rural areas. MOGA advocates for policies that support all outdoor recreation in Montana. As a bipartisan organization, MOGA collaborates with elected officials and policymakers across the political spectrum to support its advocacy priorities.
As a founding member of the Montana Sportsmen’s Caucus, MOGA partners with various organizations to protect and enhance outdoor recreation in the state. They are leaders with the National Sportsmen’s Caucus, addressing challenges like hunter overcrowding and wildlife management. Montana’s natural wonders extend beyond its famous national parks to hidden gems waiting to be discovered. By dispersing tourists across the state and throughout all four seasons, MOGA aims to unlock Montana’s full tourism potential while mitigating overcrowding on public lands. Encouraging visitors to explore lesser-known regions alleviates pressure on popular destinations and distributes economic benefits more evenly across the state. MOGA members play a vital role in this effort by offering curated experiences in under-visited areas year-round.
MOGA members are dedicated to preserving Montana’s natural resources through actions like improving trails, cleaning waterways, and engaging in community service. Programs like “Big Hearts Under the Big Sky” provide high-quality therapeutic outdoor adventures at no cost to veterans and children facing life-threatening illnesses, with MOGA members donating their time and services.
As we look to the future of Montana’s tourism industry, it is crucial to balance economic prosperity with environmental conservation. Together, we can ensure Montana remains a premier destination for outdoor recreation while safeguarding the public lands and natural wonders that make it so special. Join us in celebrating 50 years of adventure, community, and stewardship, and here’s to the next 50 years of the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association leading the way in outdoor recreation. Thank you for 50 years of memories, and here’s to many more.
